The red ibis have slightly webbed feet and a thin bill curved downwards. I
ts most remarkable character, however, remains its magnificent plumage almost entirely red, except for the glossy blue-black tip of the wings.
The colour varies from scarlet red to orange pink depending on the population, season and food. The spectacular coloring of the red ibis is due to the presence of carotenoids, pigments contained in its diet and especially the shrimp.
Recall that in the 1800s, nothing prevented to use all birds and their plumages for the manufacture of flies. The scarlet ibis was just one of many exotic birds whose feathers were used to make it.
Many other models have also used the wing or plumage of this beautiful scarlet bird.
For the fly Tyers, is this bird still to be presented!? It gave its name to one of the most famous drowned flies, was used as much for trout flies, flies in Saumons or streamers.
The exceptional color of the feathers that we offer to you makes it pieces of choice!
